A by-product of milk production these animals will be fattened for beef. I'm not sure if the rise in the ground is the Clawdd Wat (Wat's dyke) or tramways associated with clay removal, Victorian industrialists were not great respecters of antiquity so the dyke could have been used for the tramway.
