MPD driving trailer 539 was one of a batch converted from existing passenger carriages in 1959. It was not gangwayed at the time of conversion. The seating capacity of the MPD’s varied considerably. 539 had provision for 102 seated passengers. In the photograph it was being used, with 171, for public rides during the RPSI open day.
