The large, brick-built former Bury General Post Office building on Crompton Street was built at the end of the nineteenth century. It was closed in the mid 19990s and has remained disused ever since but is now (April 2012) being refurbished for possible use as a retail store or cafe/restaurant (http://www.novaloca.com/property-details/56612?search=true ).
