Bramall Lane, the home of 'The Blades', Sheffield United Football Club, is one of the oldest sports enclosures in the country. It was originally a cricket ground and the first football match took place at Bramall Lane in December 1862 between Sheffield Club and Hallam. Sheffield Club is still in existence and is recognised as the oldest club in the Football Association.
