At first glance a pretty village scene but look at the pub sign on the left. If it looks like a gibbet it's because the pub is being demolished. Furthermore just round the bend almost every dwelling is up for sale. Influence of the new high speed rail link? Perhaps; but the route is a couple of miles southwest of here. The village website is more chereful about the pub; it used to be called England's Rose and is in the process of reconstruction.
