This is the section of Pound Lane near the junction with Booty Road, looking north. Here the road is single carriageway, leading to a closed junction at Plumstead Road. It runs through Racecourse Plantation, an extensive woodland of silver birch, pine and rhododendron, full of squirrels and many species of bird. The woodland forms an important break between Thorpe End, the Dussindale housing estate and the edge of Sprowston.
