Hassendean is a hamlet to the west of Minto where the Edinburgh to Carlisle railway once passed through. A small station opened in 1850 but closed in 1969 when the Waverley Route was axed under the Beeching cuts. For a view of the station in 1991 before the buildings were converted into a residential property, see Image This was viewed from Minto Hill.
