This is on the edge of Mereworth Woods. During the Second World War the area was one of many in South East England taken over by the British Army for training purposes and on walking around the woods you can sometimes see tank traps and other concrete structures. Today Mereworth Woods are a wildlife haven. These gnarled old tree roots along Peckham Hurst Road are very intriguing.
