Built as the headquarters of the new Post Office Giro in 1966-68 to the designs of the Ministry of Public Building and Works. The tower is shaped like a staggered cross. Its clean, simple lines make it an impressive piece of work. There is a large complex buildings right of shot which housed computers. The giro was privatised in 1989-90, snaffled up by the Alliance and Leicester bank, who were, in turn, snaffled up by Santander bank who are still here.
