This yellow-painted house and the adjoining residence 'Parkgate' were originally a single property, according to an information board in the village; it was the early 19th century home of brothers David and William Workman who were leading pioneers of the American West (Workman family on Wikipedia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boyle-Workman_family ). There are several planters along Clifton's main street, with different designs related to the location.
