On the south wall is a small incised slab commemorating Dorothy, daughter of Sir John Markham. Around the rudely executed effigy is the inscription, now difficult to decipher: “HERE LIES DORETHEA, DAUGHTER OF JOHN MARKHAM, KNIGHT, AND ALICE HIS WIFE, WHO DIED 20TH DAY OF JANUARY A.D. 1494 ON WHOSE SOUL MAY GOD HAVE MERCY”
