This old stream runs over beautiful rippled bedrock, the sunlight casting ever changing shapes and reflections, sparkles and spangles off the lively waters. My dipper had skimmed off upstream at last and I had this idyllic valley to myself. Or so I thought. I soon caught a fox eyeing me from up-slope, then shifting off a very short way and peeking at me again, shifting again and sneaking a shifty glance down on me; I reckon the den is not far away. I left him or her in peace.
