Popular as these Victorian black and white, pseudo-mediaeval, houses are in Chester, this one is on its own in Park Street near the Newgate. It faces the city walls and stands between the 'Nine Houses', restored mediaeval almshouses of which only 6 remain', and a modern multi-storey car park. The house was built around 1881 and now houses a dentist's surgery.
