A fairly common sight over recent months; two traditional village pubs with one having thrown in the towel due to recent trading conditions. They aren't only competing against one another, they face being undercut by supermarket deals on cheap booze and cheap convenience foods that people can consume at home, unless they have other options in terms of darts, pool, quiz nights, karaoke, curry nights, Sunday carvery, community groups, functions, summer barbecues, live music etc then an absence of customers will usually end this way. Two or more homes look a viable option here.
