St Clement Danes Almshouses were built between 1848 and 1849 in a Tudor style. At that time they were in the country as it was then, but the tower blocks behind show how this their setting has changed. Now they are also fronted by the busy Garratt Lane from where this photograph is taken. Also known as Diprose Lodge, they are now owned and operated by the Borough of Merton.
