The original junction here featured slip roads with very tight turns and virtually no run-in to the main carriageway. Since the 2000s the motorway has been widened to 4 lanes in each direction and all slip roads greatly extended. The surface no longer features the slightly pink concrete originally laid which 1960s users will remember "sang", producing a high pitched note as it was traversed.
