No. 68754 was a post-Grouping example of the Wilson Worsdell class E1 (LNER J72), built at Doncaster in 9/25 as No. 581 (No. 8754 from 1946), withdrawn 4/62. (These engines were so popular that another 28 were built by BR in 1949-51).
