The 08.15 from Newcastle will have come via Sunderland, West Hartlepool and Stockton - a regular hourly service, usually worked by these Gresley 2-6-2Ts, this one being V3 No. 67688 (built 2/40 as No. 396, No. 7688 from 1946, withdrawn 12/62).
