The distance between the two junctions is so short that the entry slip road from junction 5 (A580) has not joined the main carriageway by the sign indicating just 440 yards to junction 6. The slip road forms a lane 1 gain which is then maintained for the remainder of the motorway. Junction 6 for the A506 has conventional slip roads on all quarters.
