Heading down into Dent

The great majority of walkers going up or down Flinter Gill probably use the bridleway in the woods beside the stream. However, careful scrutiny of the map reveals that there is also a public footpath running through the pastures immediately west of the gill. This provides a pleasant alternative to the stony track and has the added advantage of clear views of the village, Dentdale and Rise Hill opposite.
