The great majority of these class N1 0-6-2Ts were fitted with condensing gear and worked in the London area, from King's Cross and Hornsey Depots on empty coach trains and on the countless cross-London exchange freight trains. Seen from the station at Harringay ('West' 6/51-5/71), No. 4583 was built 11/1911 as GN No. 1583, became LNER No. 4583 then in 1946 No. 9463 and survived as BR No. 69463 until 3/55. (Strangely, the prominent church behind seems to be no longer there).
