The Porthmadog office of the Cambrian News is located in Bank Place. Founded in Bala in 1860 as the Merioneth Herald, renamed the Cambrian News in 1864, the newspaper is published weekly. It covers a large, mainly sparsely populated area which includes much of Mid Wales, North Wales and West Wales. Its main office is in Aberystwyth. Next door on the right is a Plaid Cymru office.
