This is the 'new' signal box at Thorpe Culvert. The former box was demolished in 2003. This one is scheduled to be closed in 2020, along with many others. Eventually, there will be just fourteen signalboxes covering the whole of the UK, and this well may be decreased in years to come. Railtrack's vision is to have just three boxes.
