The first chapel built on this site was in 1802 This was replaced in 1840 by the present one. The building was renovated in 1928 and again in 1965. Like a number of other Catholic (and Protesant) churches in Northern Ireland it was subject to an arson attack during The Troubles, being extensively damaged by fire in 1997.
