Baron Mayer de Rothschild bought the Manor of Mentmore in 1850, and decided to build his house where the village was - moving the locals to a new site. So this building dates from the mid Victorian period, although the restaurant (on the other side of the building) is a much newer extension. I greatly enjoyed the meal I had there on the day I took this picture.
