DE set near Coleraine

A five-car DE set (76,724,713,721,75) working the 10.10 Belfast Central – Portrush (via Lisburn) has just passed under the ring road bridge, south of Coleraine station. Much hot air has been expended on the merits of this stock. Having spent many years as a passenger (and had a few unofficial cab rides) I might just comment that they were very noisy, had unsophisticated suspension, bounced badly on anything other than perfect track (which NIR lacked in those days Image), the sliding windows had a tendency not to slide and the toilets were prone to failure (sometimes the toilet doors were even known to stick in the closed position). Today’s stock Image is infinitely superior.
