A private road linking Park Terrace and Standard Hill sweeps beneath the elevated ex-chapel of the General Hospital at this particular point. The chapel was added to the rest of the hospital in 1858 using plans drawn up by Thomas Chambers Hine (b.1814-d.1899). Hine was born into a prosperous middle class family in Covent Garden, moving to Nottingham in 1837. Hine was also the architect for ... The sun blinds exist to protect diners using the up-market Hart's restaurant that now occupy the premises.
