The Basingstoke Canal's Deepcut flight closed officially in 2008, but opened briefly for a rally in 2009. The contractors Dyer & Butler started the necessary repairs in November 2011. It was planned to re-open the flight in June 2012, but water shortages now mean that the earliest possible date is later in 2012. The full refurbishment programme is scheduled to take two years.
