With the opening of the new bypass in January 2012 the main street of Fochabers suddenly became a haven of tranquillity, where it is possible to stand bang in the middle of the road to record the view without risking life and limb. Fochabers was founded in 1776 and the 18th century houses in the High Street are part of the conservation area.
