We are told to keep speed down to 4mph or even slower to avoid a wash, which quickly erodes canal banks. This doesn't seem to apply to BWB maintenance craft, though I don't suppose it matters here where both edges of the canal are reinforced by galvanised iron piling. Note. I do hope, when the waterways are sold off and operated as a charity, they don't spend millions of pounds repainting these boats (before they need to) just to show new colours.
