This is photograph is taken deliberately from the rear of Alcar farm in order to show the crenellated brickwork applied to the edge of the buildings. This was done so that the members of the Farington family, when looking out of their bedroom windows in the Hall, would have a pleasant view and not see simple farm buildings.
