The Nidderdale Greenway is being created along the old railway track from Harrogate to cross the Nidd Viaduct and reach Ripley. The Nidderdale Line closed in 1964. The Harrogate to York line still runs under the footbridge ahead whilst the former Nidderdale Line diverges from this at Nidd Valley Junction, just beyond the footbridge.
