Located near the entrance from Main Street, the following text is included, "The shambles or Old market yard was built in 1830 by Col.Hugh Montgomery. It was to provide a market place (some with covered space) for the sale of flax, eggs, butter and potatoes. The old Clabby road had previously entered the town through the yard. The market ceased to function with the demise of the town's monthly fairs in the late 1950s. Underneath the shop was a police station, including a cell known as the 'Black Hole'"
