The lichens in this wood make it quite a colourful place, even in early March, before the leaves come out. Here, a greyish lichen has grown in a neat rosette, on bark colonised by a rusty-coloured species. The tree, I believe, is a birch. Both these lichens would seem to be common species - familiar to me from woods in other parts of Surrey. My thanks to ceridwen for her advice on this image!
