Built in 1782, the original bridge here spans the River Tern just below the confluence with the Roden, and has a rather weathered benchmark carved into one of the central stones. This listed 'building' and scheduled Ancient Monument was designed by William Hayward, who was also responsible for the fine bridge over the Tern at Atcham Image] and one over the Thames in Henley. On the far side of the crossing, a more modern (brick & concrete) bridge carries the road on to Withington & Rodington.
