Primary school (1899) named in honour of a Victorian champion of education for the poor, especially girls. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flora_Stevenson Within a week of this photograph being taken, the pupils were evacuated and 'rehoused' temporarily in a neighbouring school after workmen discovered asbestos in the building.
