The building, which replaced a previously demolished town hall built in 1687, was designed by Manchester architect Ernest Bates and built by Phillip Horsman of Wolverhampton in the French Renaissance style, with a sandstone façade and rusticated plinth. The building was officially opened on 19th October 1871. It is now used as a magistrates court. http://www.localhistory.scit.wlv.ac.uk/articles/VictorianBuildings/CivicBuildings.htm Image]
