The inscription reads, "Tempo Corn Mill was built on this site c.1740 by Hugh Maguire the landlord. The sawmill was added c.1870, both powered by the Tempo River. Tommy Hunter of Blackhill, the miller, ground here for the last time in 1946 and Frank Lynch sawed the last timber in 1955, thus ending two centuries of water driven industry in Tempo."
