This building at the corner of Rochdale Road and Sudell Street has clearly seen better days. It is boarded up and has so far escaped demolition as part of the regeneration of the area. There is nothing to indicate its former use, other than a sign directing “goods deliveries to the back” which could support the theory put forward on by David Boardman on Manchester History Net (http://manchesterhistory.net/manchester/tours/tour12/area12page86.html ) that it may have been part of a row of tenements on Rochdale Road with shops at street level, probably dating from the late nineteenth or early twentieth century.
