Leaving the town, the canal turns to the north-west, still on the long Nantwich embankment. Beyond the distant Nantwich Junction Bridge is (to the left) Nantwich Basin. This is where Telford's Birmingham and Liverpool Junction Canal joined the pre-existing, and wider Chester Canal on its way to Ellesmere Port.
