The church was founded in 1835 by John Henry Newman http://www.littlemorechurch.org/littlemore-newman.html, later Cardinal Newman, who was one of the principal theologians of The Oxford Movement, a group who, if I've got it right, sought to re-evaluate the relationship between the Anglican and Roman Catholic forms of worship.
