In Wellington Road, the red-brick building is the Samuel Edge Boot and Shoe Factory built c1914, and then extended later to the right. The current operation retains the name of Edge, but is not family owned. It deals with imports from the far east (mainly) and is owned by a wholesaler and on-line retailer formed in 1995, who took over this site after 2002. The plane trees by the A41 Wellington Road between Wolverhampton and Bilston have only a year or two of branch growth since being cut back.
