14-16 High street was the Co-operative Branch 22 known to them as being Tealby Street. It was built by the in house building department supervised by Mr G Rutherford, Department Manager during 1912 and opened on 13th December that year. It is reported a large crowd assembled for the opening ceremony and at the close each person was presented with a sample jar of C.W.S. jam or marmalade. The first quarter turnover was £2,204 and they expected this to double within a reasonable time.
