View SW over the North Union (WCML) tracks at the south end of the station from the footbridge to the Park Hotel, with three moving trains in view. As the rear of a previous train recedes, behind it on the next line the 15.25 Blackpool North - Cleethorpes (!), headed by 5P4F 2-6-0 No. 42871 is following behind on an adjacent line, while arriving is the empty stock of a Down Relief with ancient ex-L&Y Aspinall Class 27 3F 0-6-0 No. 52272 (built c. 1895, withdrawn 11/55) piloting Stanier Jubilee 6P 4-6-0 No. 45578 'United Provinces' (built 1935, withdrawn 6/64). On the far side is the North Union Goods Yard. (Crowding the platform are numerous 'train-spotters').
