Atherton Cemetery is on Leigh Road between Atherton town centre and Howe Bridge. The first burial at the cemetery was in February 1857. There are two mortuary chapels in the cemetery. The Nonconformist chapel is the one nearest to the camera; the one behind is Church of England. Both chapels are now disused. http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Atherton/cemetery/index.html - Memorial Inscriptions at Atherton Cemetery
