Atherton Cemetery is on Leigh Road between Atherton town centre and Howe Bridge. The first burial at the cemetery was in February 1857. There are two mortuary chapels in the cemetery, the one in this photograph is the Nonconformist capel, the other is Church of England; both remain standing but are no longer in use. http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Atherton/cemetery/index.html - Memorial Inscriptions at Atherton Cemetery
