Before Tramlink opened on 10th May 2000, there was no public transport to New Addington, other than buses. The route between Croydon and New Addington is attractive and runs past fields and woodlands as can be seen here. On the skyline in the centre is the Heathfield Estate - the view looking from the house at Heathfield back in this direction can be seen at http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2797005 It had snowed three days before this photograph was taken and although much of the snow in the suburbs had melted, out here on the edge of Croydon it was still very much in evidence and bitterly cold.
