The building was originally part of warehousing servicing the Trent and Mersey Canal wharf. These were converted into the pub in the mid 19th century. At present it is a thriving real ale pub serving excellent ale and bar snacks limited to baps and delicious pork pies. Don't get caught out at closing time - you may well not hear any "last orders" announcement.
