This close or cul-de-sac development of newish executive-type homes is called Wellcroft. Even though it has stood here for several years now it still seems a little at odds with the rest of the village, where plenty of architectural variety can be seen. I know that new developments are really vital for village life (bringing in the spending power of new residents, keeping school rolls up etc) but they often look pretty sterile, unchanging, Stepford-like and unimaginative. Though whether this perception of mine is wrong, or the fault of the architects, planners, builders or the residents I can't say. So I better shut up and move on...
