People associate this area, if they think about it at all, with stucco terraces, bijou boutiques and Hugh Grant, but the area around the tube station is liberally dotted with 1960s concrete, redeveloped by Cotton Ballard & Blow for the London County Council in 1962. David Game House, now housing eponymous college, is redeemed to some extent by its multi-coloured spandrels. The tower, Newcombe, has its end covered in netting which may suggest impending work or merely a need to stop bits of it falling on passers-by.
